Getting Started
This one-on-one orientation includes a goal setting session with a Y staff member, which will help you to determine what success will look like for you at the Y, connect you to Y programs and classes, acquaint you with the facility and equipment, and answer any questions you have or wouldn’t think to ask about your membership.  Participants will receive a $30 Y Rewards card for attending Getting Started.

Wellness Consultation
Members are encouraged to schedule a FREE wellness orientation to learn proper use of the equipment as well as learn about the different services offered within the Wellness Center.

Wells Weighs In
This community challenge is for friends and family to team up and start moving!  You have the opportunity to track your wellness, win prizes, and meet new people.  In the end, the team with the highest percentage of weight loss will be awarded the grand prize of $1000!!  Participants must be in a team of 4 people and attend monthly weigh-ins.  Contestants will receive a goodie item (example: t-shirt, hat, bag), 1 free day per week at the YMCA, chances to win prizes, and a reduced registration fee to a four-week long educational series.  See the Welcome Desk for more information and to register.  Registration will begin on 12/26/2011 and end on 1/19/2012.

Cycle Cinema
Join the Y for a recreational indoor ride, accompanied by a movie.  If you have been thinking about trying cycling, this low-key event will be a great time to become acquainted with the bike.  Come early to receive helpful instruction on bike settings and general cycling principles.  Snacks and water will be provided and Child Watch is available. Space is limited to the first twelve participants, so sign up at the Welcome Desk today!

Want to know more before committing?  The Y will host a free orientation on Monday, February 13, 2012 from 6:00-7:00 pm.  There, you will have an opportunity to learn more about the program and ask any questions you may have.


Pickleball

Family Programs

Moms’ Morning Out
Mothers, bring your babies, toddlers, and young children and come laugh and learn together: breastfeeding, discipline, coping, health tips, and more.  The group is facilitated by Lynne Apple, Lactation Consultant and Parenting Instructor.  Child Care for ages 6 weeks and older is included.

Senior Programs

Pickleball
Pickleball, a racquet sport which combines elements of badminton, tennis, and table tennis, is the perfect way for seniors to get great exercise without overly taxing the body.  Drop in to play in a relaxed, open-court setting twice a week.  Don’t know how to play?  Don’t worry, the Y will provide all the resources you need to learn.

Youth & Teen Programs

Youth Fit
Open to ages 11-14 and consists of two one-on-one training sessions with a Wellness Staff member to learn proper cardiovascular, strength, and flexibility training.  Completion is required prior to youth 11-14 utilizing the Wellness Center.

Cheerleading
An introduction to cheering basics, from cheers to jumps, and even some basic tumbling.  Youth will gain the skills, confidence and knowledge they need to prepare for school-level cheerleading.  Participants will receive a Y t-shirt.

Y Zone
What better way for middle school aged youth to spend a Friday night than with games, food and friends?

ZumbAtomic®
Designed exclusively for kids, ZumbAtomic classes are rockin’, high-energy fitness-parties packed with specially choreographed, kid-friendly routines and all the music kids love, like hip-hop, reggaeton, cumbia and more. Parents love ZumbAtomic because of the effects it has on kids, increasing their focus and self-confidence, boosting metabolism and enhancing coordination.  Staff are able to pick up/drop off at our Child Watch, if needed.

Tumbling
Classes will run 7 weeks at a time.  Staff is able to pick up/drop off at our Child Watch, if needed.

Little Bodies In Motion (Pre School ages 3-5)
Come learn the beginning stages of tumbling at the YMCA!  Classes will focus on gross motor development by practicing forward & backwards rolls, various jumps, hand/eye coordination, and other large muscle movements.  These skills are practiced through repetitive movements as well as activities and fun games.

Rollers (Ages 5-8)
This fun and active class will have children moving their bodies by practicing the basics of tumbling in an age-appropriate way. Lessons include instruction on cartwheels, balancing, correct tumbling form, flexibility, bridges, and kick to full handstand. Activities include repetitive skill practice and games that reinforce tumbling movements.

Spark
Good Vibrations (Ages 3-5)
Children will have fun developing gross motor skills through lessons and games that incorporate rhythmic movement, accompanied by music.

Dream Team Bowling
Any child who has a significant health impairment, physical disability, mental disability, or emotional disability is encouraged to come join in the fun as the Dream Team takes on bowling.  Parents will have an opportunity to interact with each other and relax as volunteers help children to bowl with the aid of bumpers and a ramp.

Mileage Club
This after school walking program allows elementary students a chance to enjoy time with friends, set goals, have incentives, and get some exercise! Mileage Club is based on
individual performance and not on competition. Your child will have the opportunity to walk two days a week for 22 weeks after school. Permission forms can be picked up at your school office or at the Y.
Dates:               Week of 9/26 through Week of 3/13 (specific dates are on permission form)

Healthy Kids’ Day
The Greater Fort Wayne YMCA knows that the family that plays together, stays healthy together.  Come enjoy a free day of fun games and play for the whole family.

Program Registration


Program registration may take place at the Welcome Desk or online at www.fwymca.org.  Discounts can not be applied online.  Registrations may be accepted after the program begins, however they are subject to approval.  There are no pro-rates taken for late registrations.


Program Cancellations & Refunds
The YMCA will offer refunds should the program or class be cancelled by the YMCA.  We do not offer refunds, credits, or pro-rated amounts due to participant cancellations.


Programs at other YMCA Branches
Wells County Members and Metro members may both sign up for programs at other YMCA of Greater Fort Wayne branches at the member rate.
